Introduced on the kitplane market in 1998, the Pelican Sport is a single engine two seater high wing aircraft that features a fixed gear. It was designed according to the DS10141 Canadian design standard. We offer the Pelican Sport 600 model. The number in its name stands for 600 kg (1 320 lbs) gross weight. The aircraft has a empty weight as low as 290 kg (650 lbs). It is also available in the 450 kg and 500 kg categories.
Our Pelican Sport kit product is listed in the Amateur Built category in Canada and it is an approved Experimental 51% kit in the USA as well. The kit airplane can be registered in the Basic Ultra-Light category in Canada when limited to 1 200 lbs. This model is also offered as a ready to fly airplane in the Canadian Advanced Ultra Light Aircraft category (available in Canada only).
The Pelican Sport has a high lift wing airfoil combine with a STOL kit, offering good STOL characteristics while sporting a very good cruising speed, i.e. 115 kts when motorised by a BRP Rotax 912 ULS (100 HP) engine. The Pelican Sport offers exciting performance, nice cruising speed, great handling, solid feel and superb economy. Cabin is spacious and confortable, instrument panel can accomodate full IFR but remains low for the front sight, and combined with its two sky lights and two side windows in the bagage compartment it provides very good visibility in all three axis.
The Pelican Sport 600 features full aluminum wings and tail, aluminum structures covered with aluminum skins. The STOL characteristics are achieved by a dual control horn mechanism that lowers the ailerons by 15° when flaps are full down. Dual stick, dual side pedal set and dual differential braking system are available as options.
The Pelican Sport comes standard with a fixed tricycle gear. Tail dragger wheel, floats and amphibian floats are offered as option.
